Patient (MY Core)

This profile is derived from the base FHIR Patient resource. In the Malaysian context, the ethnic extension allows for recording of the various ethnicities that may have a role in health events. A personTitle extension is also added to the name element to accommodate for patients with honorary titles e.g. Dato' Sri, Datin, Tun.

The four elements identifier, name, gender and birthDate are mandatory and must be supported to enable matching of Patients registered at different facilities.

Mandatory Data Elements

This structure defines these elements as mandatory data fields:

Element	Description
Patient.identifier	Patient's identifier, e.g. MyKad number, passport number, MRN. To differentiate between these, identifier.system (see Slices) and identifier.value must be present. If identifier is "Others" or "Unknown", then identifier.use must be provided. - if "Other" then identifier.use="official". - if "Unknown" then identifier.use="temp".
Patient.active	Boolean for whether the Patient record is active or not.
Patient.name	Name of the Patient. Encouraged to put full name in name.text to accommodate patronymics.
Patient.gender	Gender of the Patient.
Patient.birthDate	Birth date of the Patient.
Patient.managingOrganization	References the Organization that is the custodian of the Patient record.

For external record where the source is not "http://provider.hie.moh.gov.my", an MRN number is required identifier.value where system=http://fhir.hie.moh.gov.my/sid/patient-mrn.
